The Internet is older than the private railway market
The European railway industry faced large scale privatization and opened access since the 90s which makes private railway undertakings a relatively young industry. However, many procedures and traditions go back to the end of the 18th century and remind of the steam engine area.
Privatization has led to completely new market dynamic on many levels. Manufacturers, service providers, lessors and authorities of rail vehicles now have to support small and lean operators next to the large bureaucratic state owned entities.
Customers like logistic service providers, industrial sites, construction companies, commuters or holiday makers now actually have something to choose from and have been developing new concepts based on these new opportunities.
In our view this leads to a demand for faster responds, short term commitments and smooth pricing.
